Will A Herniated Disk Causing Sciatica Heal Itself?
I have sciatic nerve pain and was wondering if it would go away on its own

If the disc is truly herniated (ruptured), then the disc material is broken though the annulus fibrosis, and in your case, putting pressure on your sciatic nerve. This will not go away on it’s own. Surgery is the only thing that can remove that ruptured portion.
If the disc was just bulging and not ruptured (herniated), then there is a chance that it will heal itself with rest and anti-inflammatory meds. In fact, most do. Surgery should not be suggested if it is just bulging. Conservative measures are taken in these cases.
It`s the worst bloody pain in the world i think.Just got over it myself 1 yr.3 mths later.It can go as quickly as it came If it gets really bad your doctor will give you a voltriol injection,heat pads are useful and also equal amounts of walking and rest will help,Try streches in the mornings get advice through a physio your doctor will refer you.I found what they call hydro therapy really good,Basically get the shower on the pain alternating 10mins hot 10mins cold and continue it ,Sounds a lot worse than it is work well though.I think the pain killers help initially but you can build up a resistance.Ask your doctor for codrydamol and Diclofenic they are the only thing that will do it,Voltriol injection only if it`s unbearable.I believe you can get that in a cream know.Drinking plenty of water is also key as the tablets will dehydrate you.Try sticking some large books under the matress sort of at calf llevel this will raise the legs and take the pressure of the slipped disc/Sciatic nerve will be slightly relieved.Good luck
If your discs are perforated or actually torn as opposed to herniated will tell you what you need to know…If torn-no. If perforated-maybe with the right therapy(but not on it’s own)And if they are herniated there is a good chance you can take some steps (through a specialist dealing in spinal injuries) that you can alleviate the pain while the discs are going back into place. i mean…pain can be relieved with meds, but problem still there.
