digging for gold too much, being too hot, or just having a very dry nose!but if he has all those conditions he could have internal bleeding(very unlikely), or it could be a side affect, you should really ask his doctor, but if u have i don't know what to tell ya.(maybe its the dry climate inneracting to his condition)But if your worried,u shouldn't be everything will be ok.relax, eat a cookie.lol!

There is a simple solution that might help until he can see his doctor. Use a q-tip with a bit of Vaseline and swab it around the inside of each nostril. This will help keep moisture in the nose and prevent the drying. I have this problem from time to time and the vas up the nose always helps.

Besides high blood pressure and sinus problems it could also be due to weak blood vessels.
Weak blood vessels can be strengthened with citrus bioflavonoids.
There is another option known as cauterisation which involves heat sealing leaking or damaged blood vessels by heat fusion. This involves a local anaesthetic and an electrically charged needle to heat fuse and seal the leak. It is somewhat similar to drilling at a dentist but much worse and should only be a very last resort.

Have him examined by an EarNoseThroat specialist. He may just need to have a little cauterization. Very simple, painless procedure.

I imagine the meds are causing the nosebleeds.
My son has asthma and genetically inherited his father's case of nosebleeding every time his nose is bumped.
We started treating him for asthma, and one of the prescriptions was Flonase. (I use flonase, too, and it basically teflons the inside of my nose). After Joel had been using flonase for a week or so, we noticed he never had another nosebleed. Try it! It's available cheaply in generic form now.
Debbie
Not a nurse or a dr.
A patient
P.S. It greatly reduces my husband (and mine) snoring.

Most likely one of his medications is a blood thinner. He needs to get to the MD asap to have his medication level checked. One of the risks with a blood thinner is bleeding and it is important to get it checked asap because you're at risk for bleeding in other important areas in the body. GO TO THE DOCTOR!

holy crap, i saw this on diagnosis x one day, about this mom, 30 something, with nose bleeds, almost everyday. she came into the hospital bc she had 2 strokes and high blood pressure.. then her daughter had the nosebleeds too, & they found out the cause.. i forgot what it was but you should go to the website or something, bc it has something to do with the brain, and can get worse, fast. its also hereditary, so you caould have it too.. if you do have it, its cureable, but you have to detect it early..

Well......first of all he needs to contact his doctor about this if he hasn't already.
Does he have uncontrolled high blood pressure? Does he blow his nose alot? Does he need a humidifier in his home to add moisture to the air? Can he use a moisturizng nose spray (non-medicated)? Does he take blood thinners such as Plai or Coumadin (warfarin)? All or any of these can cause or contribute to nosebleeds. As I said before....he needs to speak with his doctor.

I would suggest a humidifier, I lived in Nevada for awhile too. I know how dry it is there. I would have his blood pressure checked as that c an contribute to the bleeds. I am sure he is blood thinners given the medical history you state.. have the Dr check his clot time. It can contribute to the length of time his nose is bleeding.
I would also have the Dr look in your dads nose, My daughter had to blood vessel that had grwon too close to the surface of and would get a nose bleed at teh drop of a dime, she had to have nasal cuatery done.
You might also try putting some vasoline in his nose to keep it moist.
Your dad isnt picking at his nose when no one is looking is he? that can just aggrivate the situation, but I also know how frustrating that little blood booger/clot can be.
You really need to talk to his Dr the next time he is seen.. or make an appt just for this if you think its bad enough.
