Neurosurgeon Just Recommended Laminectomy For L5-s1 Herniated Disk W/leg Sciatica. Is This Helpful To People?

I’m obviously concerned about what tapes place during the procedure, effectiveness at reducing pain and sciatica, success rate, and side effects that people are aware of from this procedure.

Well, I dont have any experience with the procedure, but I do work in a place that treats people who have had it – and maybe its because we treat people for pain – but I see a lot of people who have had it done, that it didn’t seem to help much…I dont think most of them would jump at the chance to get it done again

I am a chiropractic student and would not recomend it without seeking other proceedures first. when you have a laminectomy done it leaves your spinal cord exposed to possible injury, leads to a loss of stability, and a decrease in range in motion amoung other things. If other non-invasive proceedures do not improve your condition, yes I would then take a laminectomy into consideration. I definatly would atleast have a chiropractor evaluate your condition first.
