I was lifting a 10 gallon cooler out of a sink when i wrenched my back, yes in hindsight i was an idiot, but i dont know what to do now, the area around my left shoulderblade is really sore, im a healthy 18 year old male so I am really annoyed with an injury that I would normally relate to “old people”, anyway what do i do? i go to the gym regularly but i am worried that if i just ignore the pain i will somehow to more damage.
In simple language your back is out. See a chiropractor, learn how to lift correctly and expect the injured area to be more susceptible to re-injury unless you do some specific physical therapy to restrengthen the muscles. You may also have sprained tendons which take a long time to heal. In the mean time alternating hot and cold packs to the area and Ibu or Tylenol for pain and swelling.
the only cure is rest you will do damage to your self if you don’t
