I would be surprised if it’s sciatica so early on. I don’t really know what it could be, except that some cramping in the back, low pelvis and groin area is very normal in pregnancy and is caused by all the growing and stretching going on. These pains started for me around the time I found out I was pregnant (about 3 weeks past conception) and I did have back aches and still do. Your bones become softer during pregnancy to accommodate all the growth. I really don’t quite know what to say, except maybe give it some more time, take warm baths (life saver, trust me!) and try some peppermint tea to soothe yourself a bit. By the way, the stretching pains will shift from side to side, low in the pelvis. Good luck and congrats!

yes it could be sciatica and that has nothing to do with pregnancy lots of women get this. My mom in law does and she is in her late 50’s and definitely not pregnant so don’t worry if you thinks thats whats causing it. Gosh you found out really early on about being pregnant. Congratulations

You don’t have to be pregnant to have sciatica. It effects everyone. I’ve had it, not nice. The sciatic nerve runs down the spine to your legs. see link.

It sounds like sciatica but as u say, at 4 weeks? I had sciatica with all 3 pregnancies but not til the 5th month and until i gave birth. Sorry, dont know what else it cld be. Maybe speak to yr gp.

Does sound like it. I had sciatca pain all the way through my 1st pregnancy. Try a pillow in the arch of your back when sat or laid down and also have lots of hot baths.

I would go to your Doctor and get a second opinion as i have never heard of this at just 4 weeks. Good luck with it all :o )

Yep, sounds like it to me. Hot wet towels on your back and butt will help some. Good luck!
